Back in the Day

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 - 12:00 AM

You know what I mean? Back in the day, people had a lot of free time to dream about stuff, about thingies that are meant to make a person's life easier and more fulfilling. Now we have a lot of thingies, a lot of distractions on the road to the grave. But is it better to spend every evening for a month trying to buy your Mage Orc's Flying Dragon a Magic Belt? Or a thing in your pocket that vibrates when a person who used to make fun of you in high school found you and wants to catch up? Granted these thingies can be used for good, but be honest -- what do you really use your iPhone for?

I guess what I'm trying to say is it seems like we're masturbating furiously toward a brighter tomorrow.

2008 is the first year I've ever felt like I am honestly finishing a marathon. When I think about it, I guess I got a lot done this year. Making a business is hard, but it's also pretty fun. It's fun to watch it grow and know that I've been helping a lot of other people be able to do creative things for their jobs, and it's fun to have a job where we can laugh a lot and we don't wear shoes half the time. Part of me wishes more of what I did was the actual making of comics, but at the same time I am pretty proud of this thing. I'm rambling.
