It's true! Jar-Jar retired to Alderaan, to assist Bail Organa, where he presumably died when the Death Star blew it up. It said so on the Wikipedia yesterday (though now it doesn't). The dorks on the Wookiepedia are cold flippin' out about it, but you have to take that with a huge wad of salt. George Lucas said it, and just because Jar-Jar shows up on Coruscant as an easter egg in some game doesn't change it. If he retired to Alderaan he would have been super-old when the Empire destroyed it. He died on Alderaan, in disgrace.
